Reading a batch certificate

Every batch we release has been assayed by an independent UK laboratory. The certificate of analysis is the proof, and it is in the box with your vial and in the COA library.

The batch number

Printed on the label and the certificate in the same mono type: HP-26-0902. HP is us, 26 is the year, 0902 is the sequence. Search it in the library and the certificate you find is the one for the vial in your hand.

What each section means

SectionWhat it tells you
Identity (mass spectrometry)The molecular weight measured matches the peptide named on the label.
Purity (HPLC)The percentage of the sample that is the target peptide. We release batches above 99%.
Net peptide contentHow much of the vial mass is peptide rather than counter-ions and water. Typically 80–90%.
EndotoxinBacterial contamination, in EU/mg. Lower is better.
AppearanceWhite lyophilised powder, or a clear colourless solution.

Reading the HPLC trace

The chart is a chromatogram. The tall peak is your peptide; the small peaks beside it are impurities. Purity is the area of the main peak as a share of all peaks. A 99.4% result means 0.6% of the sample was something else, usually truncated sequences left over from synthesis rather than contamination.

One certificate per batch, not per vialVials from the same batch share a certificate. If two vials show different batch numbers they were assayed separately, and each has its own.
