Why bacteriostatic water
Everything in the range ships pre-mixed, so most orders never need it. It is here for researchers working with lyophilised peptides from elsewhere.
Bacteriostatic water, or bac water, is sterile water containing a small amount of benzyl alcohol, which inhibits bacterial growth so a vial can be drawn from more than once. It is used in the laboratory to reconstitute lyophilised (freeze-dried) peptides.
Every peptide in this range is supplied pre-mixed, so it is not needed for anything we sell. For in-vitro laboratory research use only.
For research purposes only.
Not for human or veterinary use; in-vitro laboratory research only.
Handle by qualified personnel using appropriate laboratory precautions.
How we ship it
Every pre-mixed vial leaves the UK cold and arrives in a plain box. Refrigerate on arrival at 2–8°C.
Chilled
Vials travel with frozen gel packs inside a sealed foil pouch, which holds temperature for roughly seven days in transit.
Insulated
The pouch sits inside a wool-lined envelope, so the cold chain survives a normal courier journey.
Discreet
Plain outer box with no branding and nothing on the label that names the contents.
Bacteriostatic water: research FAQs
What is bacteriostatic water?
Sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol added as a preservative. The preservative stops bacteria multiplying, so a vial can be drawn from more than once. It is usually shortened to bac water.
Is it the same as sterile water?
No. Sterile water has no preservative and is single-use. A peptide reconstituted with bacteriostatic water keeps for weeks under refrigeration; with sterile water, days.
Do I need it for your peptides?
No. Everything in the range ships pre-mixed and ready to use. Bacteriostatic water is only needed for lyophilised peptides bought elsewhere.
When will it be available?
It is in the range but not yet released. Send us a message and we will tell you the moment it lands.
How should it be stored?
Refrigerate at 2–8°C as soon as the parcel arrives and keep it out of direct light. Do not freeze: freeze-thaw cycling damages peptides already in solution.
How is it shipped?
Cold-chain packed in a sealed foil pouch with gel packs, inside a plain outer box with nothing on the label that names the contents. Same-day dispatch on weekday orders before 2pm.
